Getting started

How quickly can I create a memorial?

Most families publish a first version in under 30 minutes. Start with your companion's name, dates, one short story, and a few photos; then return whenever you are ready. Many pages begin with simple details and grow over time with more memories, guest messages, and milestones.

What is My Pet Memoir, in plain terms?

My Pet Memoir is a single-page digital memorial for a pet. It gives families one calm web address for stories, photos, and messages, instead of spreading memories across social posts and chat threads. You can share it widely or keep it private until the right time.

Can I save work and publish later?

Yes. You can keep your memorial as a draft and publish only when you choose. Some families share a simple page straight after a loss, while others wait until after a service or cremation and then add fuller stories later.

Who should create the memorial?

Usually one family member takes the lead. They can invite others to help manage the page by email under Access & notifications—each invited person signs in and sees the memorial in their dashboard. Relatives and friends can still send stories and photos for the lead organiser to add whenever they are ready.

How do I claim a memorial my vet or crematorium prepared?

If a partner created the page for you, they will share a six-character handover code. Open Claim your memorial on our website (or go to /handover), enter the code, and sign in securely. The memorial then moves into your account so you control privacy, moderation, and edits.

Which pets is My Pet Memoir designed for?

My Pet Memoir is built for families remembering many kinds of companions, including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, and birds. If your companion is another species, the same tools still apply: photos, stories, guest messages, privacy controls, and long-term access.

Pricing & access

How much does a memorial cost?

A memorial is a one-time payment of £89.99 (including VAT) for lifetime access. There are no subscriptions, annual renewals, or feature tiers.

What does the payment include?

Payment includes lifetime hosting, privacy controls, guestbook moderation, and ongoing editing access. You can invite a legacy contact or other editors by email, choose optional email reminders, add a cover image and optional portrait, calm colour palettes, a digital memorial candle, links between related memorials, QR code downloads, and export guest messages and submitted photos. One clear payment, with no future billing surprises.

Will I get a VAT receipt?

Yes. UK VAT is included in the £89.99 checkout price, and confirmation is sent by email. If you need invoice details adjusted for your records, contact us and we can help.

What if something looks wrong with my payment?

Use the contact form with the email address used at checkout and the approximate payment time. We will trace the charge and correct any issue as quickly as possible during UK business hours.

Privacy & sharing

Can I control who sees the memorial?

Yes. You can set the page to public, invite-only, or password-protected. Many families start private and open sharing later when they feel ready.

Will the memorial show up on Google or social feeds?

Public memorials can be found like other public web pages you share. Private or password-protected pages are intended for controlled access and not open discovery. We do not run ads against memorial content or boost pages in social feeds.

Who owns the words and photos on the page?

Your family keeps ownership of the stories and photos you upload. My Pet Memoir hosts and protects the page so it stays available over time. We do not sell memorial data or use tribute content to train generative models.

Memorial & guestbook

How does guestbook moderation work?

Guest messages and visitor photos are held for review by default. In the editor, open Guest stories to approve, hide, or leave items pending before anything appears publicly. Guest memorial candles appear straight away if enabled—you can remove any from the same tab. You can also export all messages and visitor photos for your private records.

Can I change the memorial after it is live?

Yes. You can update names, dates, sections, photos, and layout blocks at any time. Memorials often change across anniversaries as new stories and images are shared.

How do visitors find the memorial?

Each memorial has a stable web address on petforevermemorial.com. You can share the link by text, email, print materials, or QR code. The address does not change when you edit content, so visitors can keep returning to the same page.

What is the difference between the cover image and the portrait?

The cover image is the wide background at the top of the page. The headline portrait is an optional second image next to your companion's name and dates. You can use either one or both, and change them later.

Can I share the memorial with a QR code?

Yes. In the Sharing tools, you can generate a QR code that opens the memorial link directly. You can also download PNG or A4 PDF versions for notice boards, service cards, or reception desks.

Can I download guest messages and photos?

Yes. In Guest stories, use Download archive to export messages as PDF or CSV, and visitor photos as ZIP. Exports include pending items, so you always have a complete private backup.

Can I add a digital memorial candle?

Yes. Add a Digital memorial candle section from Content. Choose how long your candle stays lit, and optionally let visitors light a named candle from the public page.

Can I link memorials for the same family?

Yes. On the Sharing tab, create a group and connect memorials you manage. Visitors see a Connected memorials section on each page. Use an eight-character connection code when another organiser holds the memorial in their own account; codes usually expire after about two weeks.

Can I change the colours on the memorial page?

Yes. In Memorial details, pick a preset palette or adjust your own accent colours, then check Preview before sharing.

Can someone else help me edit the memorial?

Yes. Open Access & notifications in the editor. Add a legacy contact or invite family and friends by email. Each person can sign in, see the memorial in their account, and help edit the page. You can remove access anytime.

Can I get email when guests add tributes or on anniversaries?

If you like. Under Access & notifications, choose a daily summary (only when there has been new guest messages, photos, or candles), an annual reminder on the date they passed away, and—for Jewish memorials—a Hebrew calendar anniversary reminder. Each editor sets their own preferences.

Do guest memorial candles need approval?

No. If you allow guest candles, they appear as soon as someone lights one. Turn them off in Memorial details or remove individual candles from Guest stories. Messages and photos still wait for your approval.

Is there a limit on how many photos I can add?

Each memorial has a generous overall allowance. Memorial details shows how many you have used. Remove photos you no longer need, or contact us if you need more room.

What if I get stuck or something breaks?

Use the in-app help centre or the contact form and tell us what happened. A screenshot is useful if available. We reply with practical steps and investigate any platform issue on our side.

Professionals

Veterinary, crematoria & shelter partners

Partner FAQs focus on real operating steps: case setup, staff access, secure sign-in, and family handover. This keeps clinic, crematoria, and shelter workflow details separate from each family's public memorial experience.

Can partner teams create memorials before handing over to families?

Yes. Veterinary clinics, pet crematoria, and shelters can create memorials from the partner workspace, pre-fill details, and hand over ownership when the family is ready. This lets your team include memorial setup in your normal aftercare workflow.

Do partners and families use different parts of My Pet Memoir?

Yes. Families see the memorial editor and sharing controls. Partner organisations see an operational workspace for case setup, internal coordination, and handover tracking, so sensitive workflow steps stay separate from the public memorial page.

How does handover to the family work?

When ready, your team sends the Claim your memorial page (/handover) and a six-character handover code. The family claims the memorial into their own account and then controls privacy, guestbook moderation, and future edits. Partner staff can always retrieve the code from the memorial list if a family misplaces it.

Why do I need an authenticator app to sign in to the partner area?

Partner workspaces include sensitive family information, so sign-in uses two steps: email magic link plus an authenticator code. This is required for veterinary teams, crematoria staff, and shelter administrators. If someone loses device access, a platform administrator can reset MFA after identity checks.
